Why do you no longer stock Intra Hydrocare?
Whilst both products are a hydrogen peroxide water sanitiser stabilised with advanced silver, Quill Water-Pure is manufactured in the UK to our specifications, with every batch carefully quality controlled.
As we manufacture plastic products in our factory in Dorset, and as our company has roots in farming, it is important to us to support British farming and British manufacturing. Therefore, the sourcing of a UK made water sanitiser rather than a European one was a logical step.
What is Quill Water-Pure?
A hydrogen peroxide with silver water sanitiser. It is a water cleaner, disinfectant and treatment.
Stabilised with microscopic advanced silver, Quill Water-Pure is a hardworking and effective product, remaining active throughout your entire water system. Testing with one customer showed Quill Water-Pure working at the end of his 50-acre site.
Our water cleaner will remove bio-film sludge, mould, algae, bacteria and yeasts from your water pipes and drinkers with a gentle fizzing action, scrubbing clean the insides and killing bacteria, yeasts and viruses. Best of all there is no lingering smell, chemical residue or any residual toxicity. It is safe for the environment and equipment as once Quill Water-Pure has worked, it breaks down into harmless oxygen and water.
Why is silver in water sanitiser important?
Hydrogen Peroxide which hasn't been stabilised with silver will burn out very quickly on dirt and organic matter and therefore may not reach the end of the water system, leaving sections untreated. Silver also has natural disinfecting properties and supports the work of the hydrogen peroxide.
Why is Hydrogen Peroxide with silver better than chlorine?
Although chlorine disinfects water, it doesn’t clean water pipes and drinking systems. Chlorine will therefore allow for a build-up of bio-film sludge which harbours bacteria and can then cause issues with blocked pipes and leaking drinking nipples.
Can Water-Pure be used with your supplements?
Quill Water-Pure is fully compatible with all our Quill branded water additives, meaning it can be run through the water lines at the same time as our water acids, electrolytes and other water supplements. In laboratory testing, our Quill Calcium Super Boost performed even better in water with Quill Water-Pure than without it.
Using certain water additives have obvious health benefits for animals and birds but will often end up fuelling the bacteria and yeasts, leading to what seems like a jelly in the water pipes, sludge in the pipes or a bloom or separation in the water. Using Quill Water-Pure at the same time will prevent this.
Do I need a water sanitiser if I’m already using an acid?
Organic acids such as Quill Boost Tonic, Quill Complete Organic Acid and Quill Acidify in the water kill a range of bacteria like Salmonella and E. coli by dropping the pH of the drinking water to 4 which animals and poultry can safely drink.
Yeasts however can survive at a pH as low as 2, which is too acidic for birds and animals to drink. It is therefore imperative that a water sanitiser such as Quill Water-Pure is used alongside organic acids to kill the the yeasts which acids can't destroy.
Can Quill Water-Pure be used with medications such as vaccinations, antibiotics and wormers?
Quill Water-Pure should be stopped 24 hours before vaccinations are added and whilst in use and restarted once the vaccination has passed through the water.
Vets generally recommend that water sanitisers are also stopped for the duration of treatment with wormers and antibiotics and then re-started. However, most clients do still use it with wormers and antibiotics and find there is no ill-effect. If in doubt, please check with your vet prescribing the medication you are using.
What type of animals is Quill Water-Pure suitable for?
All types of animals from pigs and dairy cattle to game birds, pigeons, poultry such as broilers, layers and turkeys.
Quill Water-Pure is also used in the horticultural industry, including food production, for the disinfection and cleaning of water pipes and disinfection of the crop.
Can Quill Water-Pure be drunk by livestock?
Yes, Quill Water-Pure can be used at a lower concentration so it can be safely drunk by animals and birds. Water sanitisers in drinking water are highly beneficial, as even mains drinking water will contain some bacteria and yeasts.
Will using a water cleaner put my livestock off drinking the water?
No, water treated with Quill Water-Pure has no strange taste or smell and it doesn’t alter the pH of the water, so animals and birds happily drink it.
How do you use Quill Water-Pure?
Quill Water-Pure can be added to water header tanks or it can be direct dosed into the water using a dosing pump like the Quill Multi-Doser.
It can be used at a strong rate as a terminal clean to flush through water pipes and drinkers for a deep clean before birds or animals are added, particularly if there has been a build-up of biofilm or organic matter which would harbour bacteria and end up blocking pipes and nipples when in use. A deep-clean will strip this biofilm out and therefore particular attention should be paid to areas such as nipples and either agitate them or remove them so the stripped-out biofilm and debris can flow out of your water system. Or as mentioned above, it can be used at a lower rate which is safe to be drunk.
How cost effective is Quill Water-Pure?
When added to livestock drinking water, the dilution rate is 1 or 2 ml to 10 litres of water. This means that a 20L can is enough to treat 200,000 litres of drinking water.
