The ScotBeak Guard is a non intrusive beak attachment to prevent feather pecking and cannibalism in poults and adult pheasants but still allowing the game birds to preen, eat and drink.
These beak guards extend beyond the pheasant's beak and they are fitted by hand. A finger and thumb fitter is available to open up the bits more easily to allow them to be fitted single handed.
As reviewed in the May 2016 issue of Game Farming, The Members' Newsletter of the GFA: "Our chairman, Nick Pardoe, put them on hens and cocks going into raised laying units this spring. He reports 'They soon mastered the nipple drinking system and as the beak wears down naturally, they don't suffer the overgrowth associated with the French-style shrouds. I am thinking of putting them on the majority of hen poults we retain for breeding at nine weeks next autumn"
