Pest Control Update: Trapping Training in Scotland
As of October 2024, the Scottish Government will require users of spring (tunnel traps) to complete a course and apply for an individual ID number which must then be attached to each trap when set.
This follows the passing of the Wildlife Management and Muirban (Scotland) Act 2024. The new Act means that it will be illegal kill certain Corvids and Mammals without a licence.
The GWCT has been tasked with the development of the courses, and it is important to note that previous training will not be recognised under the new legislation. The new GWCT courses will begin in mid-October across locations in the Scottish Borders, Perthshire, Angus and Inverness-shire.
The course will take half a day and will have an estimated cost of £75 + VAT.
