Wild and Game Pate

With Christmas coming up, capitalise on the festive spirit to get your non-game eating friends converted.  I challenge everyone involved in shooting to do something this month, whether big or small to spread the word.

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to be invited to a rather splendid shoot. The hospitality and shooting was second to none (not necessarily my own shooting!) and special thanks must go to the keeper and his team who presented fantastic birds despite battling Storm Diana.  Whilst I could write essays on this wonderful day, the star of the show was Wild & Game.

This non-profit company aims quite simply to get more people (including the general public) eating game by producing a range of affordable game products from pates, pies, ready meals to fillets and whole birds.  Having sampled some of the pies and pates I can confirm that the range is delicious.

Perhaps one of the beauties lies in that many of the items use favourite ingredients including beef or chicken with the addition of game and therefore they will appeal to anyone new to eating game.

With Christmas coming up, capitalise on the festive spirit to get your non-game eating friends converted.  I challenge everyone involved in shooting to do something this month, whether big or small to spread the word.

Here are a few ideas from to get you started:-

Serve up a game pate such as the Wild & Game Pheasant, Pistachio & Port pate on canapés at a festive drinks party;

Hold your own Wild & Game pie tasting night;

Buy the large Country Lasagne or Pheasant Chilli to pop in your freezer to feed unexpected guests or the hordes on Boxing Day;

Serve up roast pheasant, partridge or mallard alongside the traditional turkey on Christmas Day;

Invite friends over for a takeaway curry and have some of the Pheasant Tikka Masala on offer alongside the takeaway;

Create a gift hamper for foodie relatives and friends and a include a few game based items.

I feel that it is crucial to the future of the shooting industry that we get more of the general public to ensure its sustainability and longevity.  Whether you are a shoot owner, gamekeeper, gun, beater or picker up, if you love the sport then we all need to do our bit so please take up my festive challenge.

The Wild & Game website is easy to use with free delivery over £50 whilst shoots can apply for special accounts to get special prices on bulk purchases.
