Good game feeders are important to maximise the best returns from partridges and pheasants. Game feeders must keep the feed dry from rain blow to prevent waste feed and mycrotoxins. The Manola feeder will suffer from driving rain and is a pain to constantly refill. Spring feeders, although initially cheap, do have their own inherent problems which include wastage from vermin such as badgers and deer as well as bio-security issues. Pheasants will often tap the spring feeder and eat most of the feed from the floor.
For chicks many of the disposable products are now being used like the cardboard feeders or chick paper. Chick paper is cheaper and better than corrugated cardboard as it absorbs the faeces and does not flatten down like the corrugated cardboard when walked on.
